Safety first – SANY telehandlers for Europe

SANY to launch telehandlers on the European market in October 2022

Bedburg, September 2022 – With the STH1440 and STH1840 telehandlers, SANY is launching the first two models of its entirely newly developed telehandler series especially for the European market. The robust powerhouses impress with their high load capacity – they can lift loads of 4,000 kg to a lifting height of up to 18 meters!

Safety as the basis for high efficiency
First things first: the new telehandlers are equipped with a comprehensive safety package as standard. This includes a basic design that offers the operator excellent all-round visibility. The low boom, for example, together with the sloping bonnet and low dashboard, allows maximum forward visibility of the working area. This is complemented by a rear-view camera with a sensor and visual as well as acoustic warnings to the driver in case the vehicle gets too close to other objects. To prevent overloading and instability, the precise weight system and the load management system work together in an optimal way. A safety switch that prevents vehicle movement when the driver is not seated, as well as the lift cylinders with hose rupture check valves, adding to the safety package.

A workplace to feel good in
For the operator, the cab is not only the control centre for the machine; at the same time, many activities have to be organised in there. The cab, developed in Germany, takes these comprehensive requirements into account in every respect and, with its maximum comfort and extensive standard equipment, is a real highlight for every operator. In addition to the intuitive touchscreen display with encoder control for on-screen navigation, it is particularly the many small details that make performing tasks in the cab easier: the document pocket on the dashboard, the armrest with an integrated USB connection for the telephone, cup and bottle holders, and other storage options. All this turns the cabin into a comfortable office. This comfort is complemented by numerous other features such as the high-performance air conditioning, a radio with Bluetooth function, that can be operated via the display, the tiltable and telescopic steering column, as well as the LMI light bar for displaying the load capacity.

Quality meets reliability
Telehandlers are subjected to heavy loads when used as construction machines, handling equipment, or in the rental industry. That is why all SANY telehandlers are equipped with high-quality components made by European brand manufacturers. Innovative processes, such as those used to manufacture the boom sections, which consist of two C-shaped high-strength pressed steel parts that are neutral axis welded together, making them extremely durable and strong.  This has been tested in the specially developed SANY test programme. To simulate the operating life and durability of the components, tests with more than 80,000 damage-free cycles are carried out on the boom test rig.

More productivity, less maintenance
The overall concept of the SANY STH1440 and STH1840 telehandlers is designed for ultimate cost-effectiveness. Maximum performance at low operating costs is therefore one of the outstanding advantages of these two powerhouses. The high-torque engine does not require exhaust gas aftertreatment and therefore does not need expensive AdBlue additives. The Dana transmission and the axles are perfectly matched to ensure a maximum of power and efficiency. General operating costs remain low, thanks to a stop-start system and the long maintenance intervals of 500 operating hours. All maintenance work can also be carried out quickly and safely from the ground: the filters for engine oil, hydraulic oil, and fuel are centrally located, the air filter is easily accessible from the engine compartment, and the battery can be reached via a fold-up step under the cab.

But productivity is most evident in how quickly the required tasks can be carried out. With the powerful load-sensing system, which regulates the hydraulic pressure proportionally to the different outputs, the boom can be raised and extended simultaneously, saving time. And the available steering modes – two-wheel, four-wheel and crab steering – get the SANY telehandlers to the intended spot quickly and precisely.

Versatility is the name of the game
The range of functions of SANY telehandlers can be individually extended depending on the main application. SANY offers a range of matching attachments for this purpose. Changing these devices is particularly easy thanks to the hydraulic auxiliary venting system: the operator can release pressure in the auxiliary system conveniently from the cab.Premiere at the bauma 2022 trade fair in Munich
The new SANY STH1440 and STH1840 telehandlers will make their first appearance in Europe at this year’s bauma in Munich. Both models will also be available from SANY dealers from October. A final outlook: from 2023 onwards, further compact models will complement the SANY telehandler family.
