Chief Engineer – Cold Planer Product Definition (Electrical & Control Systems)

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically experiencedChief Engineer to lead the product definition and technical strategy of cold planers (milling machines), with a strong focus on electrical systems and intelligent control systems. The successful candidate will act as a technical expert, working closely with product management, R&D, and engineering teams in China and Europe to ensure that the cold planer product line meets the requirements of the European market from a system architecture and functional performance perspective.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for the cold planer product line, focusing on electrical architecture, automation, and intelligent control systems.
• Translate European customer needs and regulatory requirements into clear product specifications and system requirements.
• Drive system-level definition, architecture, and integration of electronic control units (ECUs), sensors, displays, automation features, and other electrical components.
• Work closely with the global R&D team to develop, test, and validate new features and technologies for cold milling machines.
• Evaluate prototype functionality and support field testing to ensure system robustness and performance.
• Continuously monitor technology trends and competitor benchmarking to drive innovation and system optimization.
• Support the development of the long-term product roadmap by providing deep technical input and system-level recommendations.
• Act as a liaison between engineering, product management, and sales to ensure alignment between technical development and market needs.

• • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design, development, or integration of electrical and control systems in cold planers or other heavy construction machinery (e.g., pavers, milling machines, asphalt equipment).
  • Strong understanding of mobile machinery control systems, CAN communication protocols, HMI systems, and automation technologies.
  • Experience with system testing, fault diagnostics, and functional safety is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and manage complex technical requirements.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional international teams.
  • Fluent in English
